Mk Partys Treason Case Against Afriforum Futile Exercise: Law Expert
Law expert Advocate Paul Hoffman says the uMkhonto weSizwe MK Partys treason case against AfriForum is a futile exercise.
The MK Party has opened a case of treason against the civil rights organisation following allegations of land claims which saw US President Donald Trump sanctioning the country and stopping financial aid.
The party accuses the organisation of lobbying foreign powers to act against the countrys sovereignty and economic interests.
Hoffman elaborates, The fact that President Trump has taken executive action, which may or may not be persisted in is not a factor that one can take into account in relation to determining what the intention of AfriForum was in lobbying in the United States. AfriForum says that it went there to protect the interests of its constituency and that it is entitled to do. So, I dont see the reaction of Trump to their lobbying being either here or there in relation to whether there has been a criminal offense.
