Microcare has launched its locally manufactured modular 100kw Mini Grid in the South African market.

Components and expertise are locally sourced, ensuring the technology is well-suited to address local challenges and conditions, Microcare says. Components are sourced from local suppliers, and the assembly is done in Microcares expanding facilities to ensure quality control and compliance with local standards. Giving preference to local content not only enhances the durability of the product but also positions the Eastern Cape and South Africa as a hub for sustainable energy innovation.

The 100 kW Mini Grid is designed for resilience against voltage fluctuations, weather extremes, and operational stresses. Smart technology optimises energy distribution, adapting to demand changes and integrating solar power to boost efficiency and reduce downtime.

The Mini Grid can be adjusted in capacity and incorporate increased storage solutions to optimise performance and maximise energy access. It can also be containerised for ease of installation. This flexibility empowers local stakeholders, such as municipalities and industrial complexes, to shape their energy landscapes according to their unique priorities and constraints, Microcare says.

Smart technologies embedded within the system to optimise energy distribution, responding to fluctuating demands.
