Minister of Sport, Arts and Culture Gayton McKenzie welcomed back the national womens cricket team with a promise to campaign for equal pay for men and women across all sporting codes.
The Proteas arrived back in South Africa this morning after losing in the final of the ICC Womens T20 World Cup to New Zealand in the United Arab Emirates.
IT was low-key return, but minister McKenzie was on hand to welcome the team with a bouquet of Proteas.
The teams captain Laura Wolvaardt and three other players were not part of the team coming back as they had to fly directly to Australia for the Big Bash League T20 competition.
The Proteas women have performed extremely well in the tournament in spite of losing in the final and Minister McKenzie wants to make sure that they and all other women in sport, get rewarded for it.
