Former Gauteng Premier Tokyo Sexwale has described the late Rhema Bible Church founder Ray McCauley as a giant, a warrior and a respecter of humanity.

Sexwale spoke at McCauley's memorial service in Randburg, Johannesburg yesterday.

Family, friends, worshippers and church leaders came together to celebrate the well-known Pastor who died last week Tuesday at the age of 75.

Sexwale says McCauley gave them hope during their time in prison.

He says, "The person whom we are celebrating today is a warrior of God, that's what he is. Talking about prison, he came into our space whilst we were serving. We were kept alive by amongst other people Pastor Ray McCauley. He gave us hope, here we stand because of this man. When we were released from prison 24 years ago he was there to meet us, to minister to us, to greet us and to show us a lot of love, it was a man you saw testifying from this pulpit."
