Mbenenge Sexual Harassment Tribunal Adjourned To May

The Judicial Conduct Tribunal probing the first-ever sexual harassment allegation in South Africas judiciary has finished hearing the evidence and cross-examination of complainant Andiswa Mengo.

This after the Judges Secretary filed a complaint against Eastern Cape Judge President Selby Mbenenge, accusing him of sexual harassment in the form of in-person interaction and electronic communication during the period of June 2021 to November 2022.

The Tribunals task, however, is far from over with its next leg expected to resume in May.

Chairperson and retired Judge President Bernard Ngoepe:

Thank you Miss Mengo for your evidence and the matter is adjourned and postponed to the period 5 -16 may 2025. Mengo: Thank you chair. Thank you very much, the matter is adjourned.
