African National Congress (ANC) General Secretary Fikile Mbalula has refuted claims that the ANCs national working committee intends to disband the Provincial Executive Committee (PEC) in KwaZulu-Natal.
This comes after the partys national working committee concluded its visit to KwaZulu-Natal to evaluate its performance after a significant loss in the province in the recent polls.
The ANC lost its outright majority in the province, forcing it into a coalition government with the Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP), the Democratic Alliance (DA) and the National Freedom Party (NFP).
The partys national working committee led by ANC President Cyril Ramaphosa is meeting in Durban.
Mbalula says there are more important things to be done than disbanding the PEC.
