Mauritania will square off with Botswana in their opening 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier on Saturday.

The Group C encounter is scheduled to be played at the Cheikha Ould Bodiya Stadium in the capital and largest city of Mauritania, Nouakchott.
The last time the Lions of Chinguetti were in action was against Senegal on 9 June as they succumbed to a 1-0 defeat in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier played in Nouakchott.
Therefore, Mauritania are winless in their last five matches across all competitions having registered four defeats and one draw which came against Morocco in a friendly match.
