Masiphumelele Fire Brought Under Control As Relief Efforts Continue
The City of Cape Towns Fire and Rescue Service has successfully brought a fire that erupted in Masiphumelele early on Monday morning under control,
Fire and Rescue spokesperson Jermaine Carelse said an emergency call was received at around 0430 about structures burning in Masiphumelele.
One of the first officers on the scene called for additional help after seeing the fires extent.
Fourteen firefighting units and over 70 staff, including the incident management team, were deployed to the scene.
Officials set up an Incident Command Post on Houmoed Avenue, where operations were being coordinated.
