Mashatile Urges Investment In Skills, Education For Economic Growth

mashatile urges investment in skills education for economic growth

Deputy President Paul Mashatile has stressed the importance of investing in skills and education in order to unlock economic growth and job creation.

Delivering a keynote address at the inaugural Gauteng Investment Conference, Mashatile emphasised that investing in Gauteng is not just about financial returns but investing in the people, the communities, and the countrys future.

The Gauteng Provincial Government has announced that it has secured over R312 billion in investment pledges, exceeding its target by R12 billion.

Mashatile says infrastructure is often referred to as the wheel of economic activity since it fosters a conducive environment for productive activities and promotes development.

Moreover, the province should invest in education and skills development programmes to ensure that the workforce is equipped to meet the demands of a growing economy. The highly sought-after skills include digital literacy, data analysis, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and renewable energy technologies.
