Acting President, Paul Mashatile will today lead the annual commemoration of 39 South African Police Services officers .
Police Minister Senzo Mchunu and the National Police Commissioner Fannie Masemola will accompany Mashatile.
The families of the police officers and reservists who died in the line of duty will attend the commemoration at the Union Buildings in Pretoria.
The National Police Spokesperson Athlenda Mathe says three female and 36 male officers died between April last year and the end of March this year.
Twenty-nine of them were shot and killed, five died in vehicle accidents, two were hit by blunt objects amongst others. The majority of members that we are remembering died in Gauteng, about 10 died in Gauteng.
