Masar Fc Secure Caf Womens Champions League Spot
Masar FC-formerly Tutankhamun FC-has qualified for the womens CAF Champions League for the first time in the clubs history. Masar FC reached the qualification round as the Egyptian League Champions. They competed in the North African qualification group for a spot in the competition. They won 7-0 against Tunisian club ASF Sousse and 4-2 against Algerian club CF Akbou. They lost their final game 1-0 against Moroccan club AS FAR, which led them to finish second in their group, nearly missing out on qualification. Following CAFs announcement that Morocco would host the tournament, AS FAR qualified automatically as hosts, leading to Masar FC qualifying for the tournament as they finished second place in their group behind AS FAR. This continues Masar FCs impressive growth in Egyptian womens football. They won the Egyptian Cup in 2023 before achieving a double, winning the League and the Cup competitions in 2024. They are also currently at the top of the league table with two victories. The CAF Champions League will be played in Morocco between the 9 th and 23 rd of November 2024. Eight teams will participate which are Masar FC Egypt, Mamelodi Sundowns South Africa, AS FAR Morocco, Eido Queens Nigeria, TP Mazembe DR Congo, University of Western Cape Town South Africa, Commercial Bank Ethiopia and Eagles of the City Senegal.
