Marmoush Shines As Haaland And Guardiola Heap Praise

Erling Haaland and Guardiola expressed their admiration for new signing Omar Marmoush following the Egyptians debut for the Sky Blues. Marmoush was named in the starting lineup at the Etihad Stadium and immediately made his presence felt. The forward consistently troubled Chelseas defense, he almost had a full dream debut after he scored in the first half, only to see it ruled out for offside.

Later, just after the hour mark, the 25-year-old came close again with a powerful strike that narrowly missed the target. Haaland was full of praise about his new teammates potential and what he could bring to the team moving forward. "I think especially in the first half you can see he has something special," Haaland said.

"There's a reason City brought him, because he has something special. He got straight in the team and it's about getting to know him as soon as possible because there are so many important games coming." Haaland continued, "It's about giving him confidence, and he's going to be a fantastic player for us. It's always nice to have new faces. I've been a new player before, trying to come in with a different energy and different personality. It's also nice to get to know new people and, of course, play with good players, that's what you want."

The Norwegian also discussed Marmoush's performances prior to joining City, "He had an amazing first half of the season for Eintracht Frankfurt, and hopefully he's going to have the same season with us now for the second half." Pep Guardiola also weighed in on Marmoush's debut, highlighting the forward's movement and the need for the team to adapt to his style of play.
