mapaila calls for establishment of laws to curtain monopoly capital

SACP General Secretary Solly Mapaila says a political decision must be taken to establish a law that will change what he calls monopoly capital in South Africa.

Mapaila was giving the opening address at the three-day working-class leadership programme that the Chris Hani Institute in Johannesburg has convened.

He says this will ensure that South Africans can take control of their economic and social destiny.

"And to change monopoly capital is not going to happen through meetings with the CEOs and the Chairpersons of Boards of these entities in Boardrooms. First, of course, perhaps the most important Boardroom decision we need is a political decision to attack the constitution of capital in South Africa as it is. In other words, we need a law that pierces through the control of our economy by capital.

Mapaila has also lamented how corruption in the movement has hindered the fight against capitalism and the liberation of the working class.
