Police have launched a manhunt for suspects in an incident in which a member of the Elsies River Community Policing Forum (CPF) in Cape Town was gunned down.

Provincial police spokesperson Joseph Swartbooi says 49-year-old Clinton Treu was killed in a botched robbery and hijacking.

Swartbooi says, "Elsies River detectives are hard at work following up on information at their disposal, in a bid to apprehend the suspects who are responsible for killing a 49-year-old man in Kerner Street, Clarke Estate."

"Upon their arrival at the crime scene, they found the victim who sustained gunshots to his head. The victim was declared deceased on the scene by the medical personnel. The unknown suspect/s fled the scene and they are yet to be arrested," he adds.
