Manhunt Launched As Inmate Escapes From Pollsmoor Correctional Centre

This afternoon the Department of Correctional Services DCS confirmed that an inmate, a 35-year-old man named Yanga Wayithi, escaped from Pollsmoor Correctional Centre, Cape town Etc reports.

The inmate was serving a six-month sentence on charges of theft and trespassing.

During his time in the correctional centre, Wayithi was assigned to work in a team responsible for maintaining the facilitys grounds.

SAPS has been alerted of the escape and a case of escape from lawful custody has been opened.

In addition, the Departments tracing team is hard at work, actively trying to ensure a swift arrest.
