Police in Phuthaditjhaba, Qwaqwa, in the Free State are urgently seeking the public's help to locate two armed suspects involved in a fatal shooting on Friday. A 61-year-old woman and her 40-year-old son were shot and killed in their home, and the suspects fled the scene on foot.
According to Police Spokesperson Mmako Mophiring, the family was at home in their four-bedroom house when they heard a knock at the door. Two unknown men entered the house, asking for the woman's elder son. When she inquired about the reason, the men ignored her question and went to his bedroom, with the woman following them.
Mophiring said the younger son then heard gunshots and ran out of the house. Police later arrived at the scene and discovered the two victims in the bedroom, both shot in the head. Authorities are now appealing to the community for any information that could help identify the suspects.
