Mangaung Officials Check Health And Safety Of Spaza Shops
Mangaung Metro officials in the Free State have announced that they will continue their environmental health and safety operation at spaza shops throughout the festive season to ensure the safety of consumers.
During inspections, counterfeit and illicit items were discovered on the shelves of some spaza shops. Shop owners have been given a deadline until the end of February next year to comply with the law.
Mangaung Metro spokesperson Qondile Khedama explained, "This operation is an interdepartmental initiative, involving various departments such as the local economic development LED team and the waste management directorate. We aim to ensure that each departments efforts are aligned with one another. It's crucial that we address issues like parking in the CBD, as a lack of space requires us to find creative solutions."
