Man Sentenced To 15 Years For Threatening Family With Illegal Gun

A man has been sentenced to 15 years of direct imprisonment in the Ceres Regional Court in the Western Cape for threatening to shoot his family with an illegal firearm.

The National Prosecuting Authority NPA spokesperson, Eric Ntabazalila says Denovan Fritz, threatened his family at their home in November 2021 in Bella Vista in Ceres.

Ntabazalila says when the police responded to the complaint they heard the victims screaming that Fritz was attempting to run away with the firearm.

The accused tried to get rid of the firearm. Ntabazalila says the state argued the charges that the accused faced were serious and remained one of the top priority crimes in the Western Cape.
