Man Drowns At Durban North Beach

A man has died in a drowning at the Glenashley Beach in Durban North.

In a statement, the National Sea Rescue Institute NSRI says a man and a woman who are believed to be locals, were reportedly caught in the surf zone in heavy, rough sea conditions last night. The woman managed to get herself back to shore, uninjured.

The NSRI says three people who were at the beach rescued the man back to the shore. Despite efforts by one of the rescuers, who is reported to be a doctor, the man was declared dead at the scene.

On arrival on the scene paramedics continued with advanced life support resuscitation efforts and after all efforts at CPR were exhausted sadly the man was declared deceased.

The body of the man has been taken into the care of Police and Government Health Forensic Pathology Services.
