A 25-year-old man was arrested Wednesday night after Florida Highway Patrol troopers said he led them on a chase on Florida's Turnpike in Miami-Dade County.
According to the suspect's arrest report, a trooper was heading north on the Turnpike near Mile Marker 20 when he saw a dark-colored pickup truck traveling at a high rate of speed, which matched the description of a vehicle that had been stolen in Miami-Dade.
The trooper began following the truck but the driver accelerated, speeding away even after the trooper activated his emergency lights and sirens, authorities said.
According to the report, the driver eventually exited at Southwest Eighth Street, traveling east from the Turnpike.
Troopers said the truck then entered the intersection of Southwest Eighth Street and 109th Avenue.
