Mamelodi Sundowns Loan Defender Rushine De Reuck To Israel's Maccabi

Betway Premiership champions Mamelodi Sundowns have loaned defender Rushine De Reuck to Israeli Premier League side Maccabi Petah Tikva FC, SABC Sport reported on Saturday 25 January.

The deal is reportedly until the end of the current season, with a review set for July.

The 28-year-old right-footed centre back will hope for more game time at Maccabi after getting limited play at Mamelodi Sundowns in recent seasons.

He joined Masandawana in January 2021, and his contract expires in June this year. He has made just five appearances in the Betway Premiership and one in the CAF Champions League this season.

In his four seasons at Sundowns, he has featured 79 times, netting two goals. He joined the club from Maritzburg United for an undisclosed fee.

De Reuck has also made 17 appearances for Bafana Bafana , making his national team debut in June 2021 under coach Hugo Broos.

Speaking to reporters this week, Sundowns coach Miguel Cardoso said the club will look for overseas opportunities for players who have not featured regularly this season.

"We hold on to players because we feel at times that maybe we are not able to find solutions for them in the PSL Premier Soccer League, not because we don't care," he said.

"You will see that in the coming months we will work at resolving this and even maybe move some of them to Europe so they can market the club."
