One of the accused in the unlawful tender case against former City of Cape Town official Malusi Booi has been murdered, just two days after being released on bail, Cape {town} Etc reports.
According to several reports, Abdul-Kader Davids was shot and killed on Thursday in Beacon Valley, Mitchells Plain.
He stood accused on charges relating to fraud, corruption and money laundering as part of a larger case involving alleged underworld kingpin and 28s gang boss Ralph Stanfield , his wife Nicole Johnson and former Cape Town human settlements Mayco member Malusi Booi .
Detectives of the Western Cape SAPS commercial crimes unit made several arrests in Johannesburg, Eastern Cape and Cape Town last week. At the time, Booi was alleged to be among those arrested.
His office was raided last March and investigators seized several items after it was revealed that he received cash gratifications from gang members to obtain tenders from the City of Cape Town.
