Male Baboon Spotted Out And About In The Atlantic Seaboard
Residents of the area spotted the baboon on its journey through destinations like Clifton, Camps Bay and Green Point yesterday, 28 December, reports Cape town Etc .
The animal was first spotted treading along Victoria Road in Clifton and it later made its way to Camps Bay, Sea Point and then finally settled near the Gallows Hill Traffic Department in Green Point, states News24 .
The Cape of Good Hope SPCAs wildlife unit as well as the Metro Police then began monitoring the whereabouts of the animal.
Nicola Jowell , the Ward 54 Councillor, commented that the baboon which started with a visit to Camps Bay has made its way rapidly though the ward faster than most visitors!. And is taking a break in Green Point currently. He is being closely monitored and the SPCA is with him to ensure he does not get hurt or hurt anyone else. A vet is on the way to assist to ensure he can be safely and carefully moved out of the area and relocated back home.
In the afternoon, the animal was darted by a veterinarian and consequentially transported for a medical check-up. The baboon is set to be released back into the wild in due course, reports IOL .
