Major-general Mokoape Was A Liberation Warrior

The late Major-General Keith Mokoape has been described as a liberation warrior who sacrificed his life and academic career to pursue the anti-apartheid struggle.

The decorated veteran died last weekend.

He was the former intelligence chief of the then-banned African National Congress ANC armed wing uMkhonto weSizwe.

In 2018, Major-General Mokoape was conferred with the Order of Luthuli in silver for his selfless service during the liberation struggle.

Deputy President Paul Mashatile says Major-General Mokoape died at a time when the ANC was tapping into the wisdom of struggle veterans for its renewal efforts.
