Build One South Africa BOSA leader Mmusi Maimane has called on the Basic Education Minister Siviwe Gwarube to appoint an independent educational ombudsman to ensure a quality education system.
Maimane was addressing the media in parliament on Sunday where he outlined his partys educational plan, ahead of the Matriculants starting their final exams on Monday.
Among others, he has also called for the scrapping of the 30 pass rate. Maimane says its very important that the quality of education the learners are receiving is of a very high standard.
I would urge the Minister to introduce an independent education ombudsman. This way we can ensure that standards are being kept up and we can ensure that we monitor pass rates and standards so that we can upend the quality teaching that takes place in the classroom. And therefore I would urge that we establish an independent ombudsman urgently.
