Magesi FC coach Clinton Larsen was drenched in celebration after his teams surprise 2-1 victory over Mamelodi Sundowns in the Carling Knockout Cup final at the Free State Stadium. Despite his soaked favorite blue shirt, Larsen was all smiles as Magesi FC became the first newly-promoted team to win South Africas version of the League Cup.
Magesi FC showcased impressive performances, including a victory against Orlando Pirates in the first round and a strong second-half display to defeat Sundowns in the final. Their strategy of counter-attacking and increasing tempo in the second half proved successful, contributing to their unbeaten streak since losing to Polokwane City in September.
On Saturday, Magesi endured pressure and trailed before halftime, with Elvis Chipezeze making crucial saves. Larsen praised his team's resilience, stating they needed to be brave and execute their training plans, which paid off in the end.
