M23 Will Not Participate In Peace Talks Scheduled In Angola

The M23 rebel group says it will no longer take part in the peace talks in the Angolan capital in Luanda today. The group was supposed to be part of inclusive dialogue to restore peace and stability in the Eastern Democratic Republic of Congo DRC.
The group says its members have been slapped with sanctions.
M23 says some international institutions are undermining peace efforts in the Eastern DRC .
The group says sanctions imposed on their members severely undermine direct dialogue and make progress impossible.
The Southern African Development Community- East African Community regions have been working together in an effort to bring long-lasting peace in Eastern DRC.
