Luis Suarez Signs One-year Extension With Inter Miami

Luis Suarez, the former Barcelona and Uruguay striker, has extended his stay at Inter Miami by signing a one-year contract extension with the Major League Soccer MLS club. The 37-year-old will continue playing under newly appointed head coach Javier Mascherano next season, the club confirmed.

Since joining Miami earlier this year, Suarez has been a standout performer, scoring 25 goals across all competitions, including 20 goals during a record-breaking regular season. The team set a new points tally record and won the Supporters' Shield for the best regular-season performance, although their campaign ended in disappointment with a first-round playoff loss to Atlanta United.

Suarez expressed his excitement about the extension, saying, Im very happy, very excited to continue for another year and to be able to enjoy being here with this fan base, which for us is like family. We feel very, very connected with them, and hopefully, next year, we can bring them even more joy.

Raul Sanllehi, Miamis president of football operations, praised Suarez for his outstanding contributions both on and off the pitch.

The announcement follows a period of transition for Inter Miami, with Argentinas Gerardo Martino stepping down as head coach. His replacement, Javier Mascherano, is a familiar figure to Suarez, having been his teammate at Barcelona.
