Long-term Update Ford Territory Tackles The Urban Jungle In Comfort
The Ford Territory may not be a direct successor to the Aussie-born SUV of the early 2000s, but after spending two months with the latest version, its clear that it fits perfectly into todays market.
With models like the Kuga and Focus no longer available, and the Figo, EcoSport, and Fiesta discontinued, Ford South Africa found itself in need of new products. Some humorously speculated that the brand might become known as The Ranger Company.
However, Ford successfully secured the Territory, a Chinese-made SUV produced through a joint venture with JMC. The model has already outsold competitors like the Toyota Rav4 and Nissan X-Trail. In November, Ford sold 326 units of the Territory, making it the brands second-best seller. While its not close to the impressive numbers of the Ranger bakkies, it still contributed to Ford achieving its best local sales month since June 2021.
Though the long-term review of the Territory will begin later in December, it has already proven itself as a capable performer in urban environments, offering a comfortable ride.
