Inter Miami star Lionel Messi 's €11 million mansion in Ibiza has been vandalised by climate activist group Futuro Vegetal.

The activists broke into the property, painted it red and black, and shared photos on social media. They held a banner reading Help the planet, eat the rich, abolish the police, criticising government policies that they believe worsen the climate crisis.

Futuro Vegetal explained that Messis mansion is an illegal construction, adding that the Balearic Islands have suffered deaths due to the heat wave.

The group stated that the richest 1% are responsible for the same amount of carbon emissions as the poorest two-thirds, due to public authorities supporting an economic system that threatens life. They called for a radical change to address social inequality and the climate crisis.
