Limpopo Premier Phophi Ramathuba has acknowledged that the province's roads need urgent rehabilitation to enhance safety. Limpopo is currently facing a backlog of over 13,000 kilometers of roads that require upgrading.

Last month, Road Agency Limpopo dismissed its Chief Financial Officer, Gabriel Maluleke, following allegations of failing to deliver on road projects promised to communities. The undelivered projects are valued at R1.3 billion.

In light of these challenges, Ramathuba launched the festive road safety campaign at the Mantsole weighbridge near Bela Bela, urging drivers to exercise caution on the roads during the busy festive season.
