Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi says the Nasi Spani programme will be ramped up in a bid to create more jobs.

According to Lesufi, the programme has so far resulted in 130 000 jobs.

However, over 30 000 teacher assistants have recently lost their jobs after their contracts were not renewed due to financial constraints.

Speaking at the 7th administration State of the Province Address in Katlehong, in Ekurhuleni, Lesufi says new opportunities are set to open for those whose contracts werent renewed.

We want to apologise to them for the abrupt termination but we want to assure them, in the new investment opportunities that we announce today well open new opportunities for them and the young people of our province, so they dont rely on temporary jobs but permanent jobs.
