South African politician and anti-apartheid activist, Pravin Jamnadas Gordan was born on April 12 th 1949 in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal. He was the son of Jamnadas Gordhan and Rumba.
Gordhan married Vanitha on December 7 th , 1990 and has two daughters.
He completed his Bachelor of Pharmacy from the Durban-Westville University (UKZN) in 1973. He accomplished his pharmaceutical clerkship in 1974 and worked at King Edward VIII Hospital till 1981.
Gordhan showed notable leadership skills from a tender age when he joined the Natal Indian Congress (NIC) in 1971 and was elected to the congress' executive council.
