Lesotho Opens Up Water Economy To Create Investment Opportunities
The Kingdom of Lesotho is opening its water sector to attract more foreign direct investment and expand opportunities in the industry. SanLei, a trout producer located along the shores of Katse Dam in Lesothos remote highlands, is renowned for its pure, deep waters and ideal conditions for trout farming. It is the first farm and hatchery in Lesotho, and in all of Southern Africa, to receive the Best Aquaculture Practices certification. The pristine, deep waters offer an almost perfect setting for raising high-quality trout, which has become a sought-after delicacy in South Africa, Europe, and more recently, the United States. The Japanese name for the farm, SanLei, can be roughly translated as where the mountains meet the sky.
