Left-lane Driving Bill Refiled By Florida Lawmakers
A bill filed last year to make driving in the left lane on a Florida highway illegal is back with a new, similar bill.
Florida Rep. Jenna Persons-Mulicka, R-Fort Myers filed HB 545 on Tuesday.
The bill would prohibit drivers in the state from using the furthermost left-hand lane on a highway with two or more lanes moving in the same direction with a posted speed limit of at least 65 mph.
According to the bill, may only use the left lane when:
- Overtaking and passing another vehicle
- Preparing to exit the road, street, or highway
- Otherwise directed by an official traffic control 42 device
- If environmental or traffic conditions dictate.
Persons-Mulicka proposed a similar bill in January 2023 .
