Lawson Replaces Perez At Red Bull F1 Team

Liam Lawson, the 22-year-old New Zealand driver, has been confirmed as the replacement for Sergio Perez at Red Bull Racing for the 2024 Formula One season. This announcement came on Thursday, following the confirmation of Perez's departure from the team on Wednesday.

Lawson, who made his F1 debut in 2023 at the Dutch Grand Prix as a stand-in for the injured Daniel Ricciardo, had already impressed with his performances during his five-race stint and his return for the final six races of the season after Ricciardo was dropped. His promotion from Red Bull's sister team, AlphaTauri previously known as VCARB, had been widely anticipated.

In a team statement, Lawson expressed his excitement and pride about the opportunity, calling it a "lifelong dream." He emphasized how much the support from Red Bull and his recent races had prepared him for this next big step in his career. Lawson will now join reigning world champion Max Verstappen at Red Bull for the upcoming season.
