The City of Tshwane has advised residents of Laudium and Atteridgeville in the west of Pretoria to prepare for a temporary water outage due to scheduled repairs on the H14 pipeline and Laudium Reservoir outlet.
It says the essential work will result in a 12-hour water supply interruption.
The Citys spokesperson Lindela Mashigo explains why the repairs are necessary, The leaks occurred after the first phases tie-in work which was done on the system last week. The work involved connections on a high pressure H14 line, installation of the Laudium Reservoir outlet valve as well as the Laudium Reservoir by-pass pipeline. The valve and the by-pass pipeline to the existing Laudium Reservoir outlet pipe experienced a significant leak on the existing supply pipe downstream of the tie-in location. The team also observed a minor leak on the H14 connection point."
