Cape Towns Langa township will be buzzing with excitement this Freedom Day, 27 April, as the annual TymeBank Langa Run4Freedom takes the spotlight, reports Cape town Etc .
Now in its fourth year, this vibrant event invites participants to traverse the heart of one of South Africas oldest townships, immersing themselves in Langas rich culture while simultaneously empowering local businesses and community initiatives.
This year promises an impressive turnout with over 1,800 runners expected to take part.
Among the notable athletes joining the race is William Kaptein from the TymeBank Langa Athletics Club, who recently made headlines after his spectacular victory at the Totalsports Two Oceans Half Marathon on 6 April 2025.
Kaptein's win was historic, marking him as the first Cape Town native to clinch the prestigious title since Makhosonke Fikas victory in 1998, and his participation in this event is sure to inspire many.
