Chief Justice, Raymond Zondo says the Labour Court can improve its performance in discharging its judicial functions. He delivered the 2022/23 Annual Judiciary Report at the Constitutional Court in Johannesburg.

The Court achieved a 58% performance metric, achieving its set target by finalising over 2000 matters out of a total of just over 3 500 matters.

In the 2021/22 financial year, the specialist court finalised 60% of matters before it. During the period under review, 18% less Labour Court matters were enrolled compared to the previous period.

The Court sits mainly in Durban, Gqeberha, Cape Town and Johannesburg.

The case load decreased in all centres, except for Durban which saw an increase of 7%.
