KwaZulu-NatalKZN citizens will have an opportunity to add their contributions to the Tobacco Bill when the Portfolio Committee on Health resumes public hearings on the Bill tomorrow.
The KZN public hearings are the last provincial hearings on the Tobacco Products and Electronic Delivery Systems Control Bill of 2022 .
The Bill seeks to strengthen public health protection measures, align the South African tobacco control law with the World Health Organisation Framework Convention and nullify the Tobacco Control Act of 1993.
The Chair of the Portfolio Committee on Health, Dr Sibongiseni Dlomo, has encouraged communities to come out in numbers.
We will be starting meetings at 10am. The first meeting will be tomorrow - Friday that is. Its taking place at the community hall called Nseleni in the city of Mhlathuze. On Saturday, we will be visiting Pietermaritzburg, Mbali ward 18. Last would be Sunday, on the 10th, in Greenwood Park, Durban, says Dlomo.
