Kzn Premier Ntuli Calls For United Effort Against Crime
KwaZulu-Natal Premier Thami Ntuli says collaboration between government, law enforcement agencies and the society can help in the fight against crime. Ntuli was speaking at a two day conference for the Council Against Crime in Durban.
Poverty, unemployment and inequality have been identified as root causes of crime. Ntuli says he is concerned that most young people are involved in criminal activities.
According to the crime statistics, for the period from July to September 2024, eight police stations in KwaZulu-Natal are among the national Top 30 stations contributing to crime volumes.
However, Ntuli says some categories of crime are decreasing.
We are therefore worried for the incident that took place recently, but we are at the same time convinced that what were doing is yielding results. Because when it comes to the collaborations, the collaboration between the police and the community policing forum there is an improvement. When it comes to certain categories of crime theres an improvement, which shows that the direction we are taking is yielding some positive results.
