KwaZulu-Natal police say they are working tirelessly to ensure that a group of suspected gunmen who shot and killed four people in the Nyezane area in Estcourt yesterday afternoon are found and arrested.

So far one suspect has been arrested in connection with the murders.

Gunmen opened fire randomly, killing four and wounding one.

Provincial police spokesperson Robert Netshiunda says they believe the killings are related to stock theft.

"There has been an increase in stock theft cases in the area, so community members came together to try and isolate those who were stealing stock. We believe suspects could be involved in stock theft cases. We are following up on strong leads, we are focused on finding suspects and finding the firearms. We cant rest when theres somebody on the loose with a rifle, so we need to get hold of the firearm and arrest suspects."
