Kubayi Wants Answers From Ndpp Over Omotosos Acquittal

Minister of Justice and Constitutional Development, Mmamoloko Kubayi has requested a comprehensive report from the National Director of Public Prosecutions NDPP on why the state failed to prove beyond reasonable doubt its case against televangelist, Timothy Omotoso.
Omotoso and his co-accused Lusanda Sulani and Zukiswa Sitho were acquitted on all the charges by the Gqeberha High Court, on Wednesday.
They were facing rape, human trafficking and racketeering charges.
Kubayi expressed concern on the manner the case was handled by the prosecuting team, as Judge Irma Schoeman lambasted the prosecution team for unethical conduct and incompetence in her judgment.
Spokesperson to the Minister Terrence Manase says this is a setback for victims of gender-based violence and related crimes.
