Komanis Ongoing Water Crisis Disrupts Services, Frustrates Locals

The inconsistent water supply in parts of Komani, Eastern Cape, has affected the delivery of services. The crisis has been ongoing since November last year leading to frustrations from locals.

The water levels of the dam supplying the area are critically low.

14 wards out of 34 in the Enoch Mgijima Local Municipality are facing water outages. This has led to the Chris Hani District Municipality introducing water cuts.

Two residents Posha Lubbe and Elizabeth Meyer claim the water provided by the municipality is contaminated.

Im glad we are getting this water, the water is clean and we will drink this water. The water we used to get was a little dirty. Its so hard to do the washing, Lubbe says.
