Residents of Klipfontein View extension 1 in Midrand, north of Johannesburg have barricaded roads with rocks , burning tyres.
They are protesting over lack of water which they say they have not had for a month now.
Allendale road and Klipfontein View are affected.
Johannesburg Metro Police spokesperson, Xolani Fihla says officers are on the scene controlling traffic.
Officers have been dispatched to assess the situation and assist with diverting vehicles away from the affected areas. The closure is causing significant traffic disruptions between Midrand, Tembisa and Kempton Park in Ekurhuleni. Motorists should expect heavy delays as they navigate the area. We urge drivers to exercise caution and use alternative routes such as Modderfontein Road, Mastiff Rd and Dane Rd to avoid closures.
