Kenya Welcomes Another Major Cruise Liner

Kenyas position as a premier cruise tourism destination received a major boost on Monday, March31 when the luxury cruise ship MV Crystal Symphony arrived at the Port of Mombasa.

The vessel, carrying 600 passengers, marks another milestone in the countrys efforts to attract more cruise liners and boost economic growth through tourism after the port welcomed the Norwegian Dawn in February the largest cruise ship to ever dock in Kenya.

Passengers disembarking in Mombasa will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in various experiences, including a visit to Tsavo National Park. Other excursions during the two-day stop include experiencing the culture and heritage at Mombasa Old Town and Fort Jesus and shopping for mementos.

The arrival of Crystal Symphony is a testament to Kenyas growing appeal in the global cruise market. Cruise tourism is a key pillar of our strategy to diversify tourism offerings, create economic opportunities and showcase Kenyas tourist attractions. Our focus remains on strengthening partnerships with cruise operators and ensuring seamless experiences for cruise travellers through a collaborative approach, said Kenya Tourism Board KTB CEO June Chepkemei .

Kenyas County Executive Committee Member for Tourism, Culture and Trade, Mohammed Osman Ali , lauded the efforts of KTB and Kenya Ports Authority in promoting cruise tourism. He expressed optimism that the projected cruise ship arrivals for the year 2025 will surpass the figures of the previous two years.
