As one of the biggest Cosafa Cup shocks in recent memory, Kenya bagged an impressive 2-0 win over Zambia in their opening Group B encounter on Thursday evening.
Kenya, who are participating in the tournament via a special invitation, got off to a flyer at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium and had Zambia on the ropes early on.
Austin Odhiambos converted penalty in the 9th minute gave the Harambee Stars a well-deserved lead in Gqeberha while Patrick Otieno doubled his nations lead just 10 minutes later.
After building their lead, the Kenyans proved to be a tough nut to crack for much of their encounter while Zambia continued to pile on the pressure in search of their opener.
Zambias performance was summed up with a sending off deep into stoppage time after Kelvin Kapumbu received his marching orders in the 94rd minute.
