Kenya Seeks To Enhance Sports Tourism Profile
Kenya has launched the Magical Kenya Mountain Trail Series a collaboration between the Kenya Tourism Board and Athletics Kenya aimed at enhancing the countrys profile as a premier sports tourism destination. The series kicks off on January 13 in Laikipia and winds through Baringo, Elgeyo Marakwet, Uasin Gishu and Nandi County before ending with the Tinderet Barngetuny Mountain Run on January 18.
Peter Angwenyi , Chairman of Athletics Kenya Mountain Running, highlighted the collaborations significance: Mountain running in Kenya is enhancing sports tourism. We are appealing to Kenyans to turn up in great numbers for this six-day series.
The series aligns with Kenyas broader tourism strategy, leveraging its reputation as a global leader in long-distance running. John Ololtua , Principal Secretary for Tourism, noted the dual benefits of promoting Kenyas natural beauty while fostering local talent and boosting the economies of host counties.
Jackson Tuwei , President of Athletics Kenya, underscored the role of these events as platforms for training and selections for the World Mountain and Trail Running Championships.
