Kano Govt Restates Commitment, Introduces CS to Tackle Maternal Mortality

The Kano State commissioner for health, Dr. Abubakar Labaran, has said the state government remains committed to ending maternal mortality in the state.

The reassurance was contained in a press release signed by Ibrahim Abdullahi, Information Officer of the states Ministry of Health on Tuesday.

This is coming just few days after concluding a 5-day workshop on Maternal and Neonatal Mortality Reduction Innovation Initiative MAMII in Kano.

"MAMII project is the strategic plan to crashing down maternal mortality through intensified intervention in 172 priority LGAs across the six geopolitical zones, which Kano emerged the highest with 18 LGAs," the statement says.

Dr. Labaran also stated that the government has also introduced free caesarean session CS to those that develop complications during pregnancy to address the issue.
