Super Eagles winger Ademola Lookman delivered an emotional and inspiring acceptance speech after being named the 2024 CAF Mens Player of the Year .
The 27-year-old edged out Achraf Hakimi, Simon Adingra, Ronwen Williams, and Serhou Guirassy to claim the prestigious award, cementing his place as the best male African footballer.
Speaking on Monday after receiving the award in Marrakech, Morocco, Lookman reflected on his journey, including the challenges he faced following a missed penalty for Everton in November 2020.
In 2020, during his time at Fulham in the Premier League, Lookman attempted a Panenka-style penalty in stoppage time against West Ham goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski. Unfortunately, his chipped effort lacked power, falling straight into Fabianskis hands, resulting in a 1-0 loss for Fulham.
